On this page, current and potential clients can access rate information, make secure online payments with PayPal, exchange manuscripts using FTP (coming soon), and read the guarantee of privacy and confidentiality that is part of every agreement.
Rates & Billing
Because every project is unique, requiring different skills and schedules, rates are determined on a case-by-case basis. New clients will be quoted an hourly rate for services once a representative sample of the manuscript is reviewed to judge its level of complexity. The hourly rate also will depend on the type of service requested (developmental editing will cost more than copyediting for style or technical issues only; copyediting will cost more than proofreading). For returning clients, a project fee may be established in lieu of an hourly rate. For all clients, A premium will be charged for "rush jobs" with tight deadlines.
Once the hourly or project rate is agreed upon, a deposit (typically one-third the project rate or anticipated billable hours) is most often required to start the project. The balance is due upon completion.
Payments
Invoices may be paid online, via this website and PayPal. PayPal processes all major credit cards, and you are not required to have a PayPal account. By using PayPal's secure servers, your sensitive financial information will be kept private; none of your financial data is recorded by this website or stored by Ms. Parker. Other forms of acceptable payment for individuals are certified check or money order. No personal checks are accepted.

Privacy and Confidentiality
The privacy of all clients--past, present, and potential--is highly valued. Your personal contact information, terms of agreements with Ms. Parker, and details of projects in progress are treated as strictly confidential and are never divulged to third parties without express consent. Client names, endorsements, and titles of works edited by Ms. Parker appear on pages of this site only after permission has been granted.
